Code of Conduct

Playing Fair, Staying Kind, and Making Netball Fun For All

We want every session to be positive, inclusive, and enjoyable whether you're brand new to netball or a seasoned pro. Our code of conduct sets out a few key expectations for players, parents, and spectators so we can all support a respectful, friendly environment on and off the court.

Players

  • Respect every player, umpire, coach, and spectator, whatever the score.
  • Play to the rules and accept the umpire's decisions without argument.
  • Keep language and behaviour appropriate. Abuse, bullying, and discrimination have no place at Momentum.
  • Arrive on time, in suitable kit and non-marking trainers, ready to warm up.
  • Look after the venue, the equipment, and each other. Report injuries or hazards to the organiser straight away.
  • Shake hands and thank your opponents and umpire after every match.

Captains

  • Make sure your team knows and follows this code.
  • Confirm your team's attendance and let us know as early as possible if you cannot field a team.
  • Be the first point of contact for the umpire and the organiser on match night.
  • Raise concerns with the organiser calmly, away from the court.

Parents and spectators

  • Encourage every player on both teams. Applaud good play wherever it comes from.
  • Never shout at, criticise, or coach from the sideline. Leave the umpiring to the umpire.
  • Stay off the court and out of the team areas during play.
  • Set the example you would want the players to follow.

Safeguarding and wellbeing

  • Momentum Netball follows England Netball safeguarding guidance. Every coach and umpire is expected to keep players safe.
  • If you see or experience anything that worries you, tell the organiser on the night or email [email protected].
  • Concerns are handled in confidence and taken seriously.

If the code is broken

  • The organiser or umpire may issue a warning, ask a player to sit out, or ask a spectator to leave.
  • Repeated or serious breaches can lead to suspension from the league without refund, as set out in our Terms and Conditions.

Thank you for helping us keep Momentum a place where everyone can enjoy their netball.
